Attraction

The historical side of Louisville is arguably the reason for many visits to the Louisville area, though the city has more than its share of notable attractions. Here are a few.

BBC Brewing Company: If you're interested in the history of brewing, this is one attraction you don't want to miss. The BBC Taproom and Brewery Museum is at the site of a full-scale brewery and bottling plant. Take a tour, browse the store or take time for a meal. Old Louisville Information Center: With the sheer number of historic sites available in Louisville, this should probably be your first stop. Located in Central Park, the center offers information about the many historic places and events going on in the area. Thomsa Edison House: Located downtown, this "shotgun" house was home to the famous inventor during his years with the Western Union. Take a look at some of his famous inventions, like the phonograph and incandescent bulbs.

Farnsley-Moreman Landing: Learn about the importance of the Ohio River at this river landing. For more than a century, the river was the "superhighway" that brought goods to and from Louisville and the surrounding area. This historic site is a "must see" for the history buff.

American Printing House for the Blind: Tour this production facility that touts itself as the world's largest nonprofit company creating products for the blind and visually impaired. While you're here, visit the Callahan Museum to learn about the history of education for the blind. Frazier Historical Arms Museum: From a bow that was reportedly used by Geronimo to the family Bible that belonged to Daniel Boone, you'll see some of the area's most prominent historical artifacts. The list goes on and on providing a plethera of tours, sites and events with something for everyone. If you've got a sweet tooth, you can see how candies are made at Schimpff's Confectionery. You can tour the National Corvette Museum, the Muhammad Ali Center, the Louisville Slugger Museum or the Kentucky Derby Museum. Roam the city and browse to your heart's content, or plan an itenary to be sure you have time for everything you want to see.
